Food Review: Durian Cake and Pastries by The Durian Bakery

Durian season is over, but we are still craving for durians.

Usually, we will just have to wait till the next season again, but this time, there is The Durian Bakery! They offers a variety of mouth watering durian pastries! The highlights of this online bakery is that they
  • Only focus on durian pastries
  • Hand crafted and bake fresh their pastries daily
  • Use premium Mao Shan Wang durian flesh
  • Add Zero preservatives

Theses are the 6 out of 9 types of durian cakes available

As we crave for durians so much, my boys and I decided to order the Mao Shan Wang Durian Mille Crepe Cake at S$88, which is one of The Durian Bakery's signature products. It is a rich and creamy Durian Mille Crepe cake that’s layered with their signature MSW SilkyGold™ Durian Puree, blended through a special process to make it extra creamy, and just as tasty as the Durian itself!

This crepe cake is not like any other crepe cakes that we have tried before! There is the rich bitter-sweet creamy taste and complex layering textures. We took a mouthful and cannot forget.

I also ordered a Signature Pastries Taster Bundle at S$51.90 which consists of the below highly recommended products:

1x box of 12 D24 Durian Choux Puff, 1x box of 6 D24 Snowy Mochi and 1x pcs of Dark Choco MSW Mousse

My personal favorite is the Snowy Durian Mochi as it's filled with more than 90% of D24 durian flesh! The skin is so soft and dewy and upon biting, the durian taste exploded in my mouth. The chewiness of the mochi also added texture to every bite. I also like my mochi a little chilled, so that it felt like durian ice cream too!

Little Brother and the Hubby loves the Durian Puffs the most! The durian puffs are around 4.5cm in diameter and perfect for popping directly into the mouth at one go! Yes, even little brother is squeezing the whole puff into his mouth. Each puff contains more than 95% of D24 durian flesh, 5% cream and no sugar! The perfect thawing time as advise by The Durian Bakery is 30 minutes, and Lil Brother said that he can feel he is in Durian Heaven with just one bite. 😀

Big Brother loves the Dark Choco Musang King Mousse the most, although i find it expensive (S$16 for one). He took a bite and he refused to share with the rest of us, so i am left curious how good it actually tastes!

According to the product page, this Dark Choco Musang King Mousse is a savory dark chocolate mousse with fresh musang king durian pureed and whipped into a thick creamy texture. With every mouth, you could taste the natural bitter-sweetness of their signature SilkyGold™ Durian Puree – the creamiest, most delicious durian filling you’ve ever tasted – topped with the sinfully rich dark chocolate. Sounds really good, especially if you are both a chocolate and durian love too!
