Book Review: The Adventures of Greco and Beco: The Glass House

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is holding a fun and interactive carnival called 'Build It Green', or 'BiG Day Out' carnival today and tomorrow, at Dhoby Ghaut Green! The carnival aims to raise awareness on green buildings and green living in our community through fun and games. Families with young children are welcome to join in!

To add value to the event, BCA has also commissioned a new storybook written for children aged 4 to 8, to be launched during the carnival. “The Adventures of Greco and Beco: The Glass House” is written by Gwen Lee, a local author with architectural background. It tells the tale of sustainable living and the importance of saving water and energy for a greener future.

We were lucky to be invited by BCA to review the book and this came in really handy for us, as I am homeschooling Big Brother.

I have taught him about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, and with this book, I can extend and teach him about green buildings and built green, rai…

Warning: This recipe will make you pile on weight! Read at your own risks!

As I started baking last year, it's so fun and addictive, I have move on to try baking different recipes. This is one of a good recipe that I found and tested, that I think anyone who loves Chocolates can try baking this too!

Note: Original recipe adapted from here. I have made some modifications to make it less sweet and also I use slightly lesser plain yogurt because I buy them in packs of 200ml (as i am lazy to measure it to be 240ml)

Ingredients required:
Dry 240g (2 cups) all purpose flour150g white sugar (i used lesser sugar than original recipe)100g of chocolate chips (or any amount you desired, to suit your taste buds, i used hershey's semi sweet mini chocolate chips)45g cocoa powder (i used hershey's cocoa powder. *New* The Things LIttle Brother Says

I always have been posting snippets of conversations between me and Big Brother.

Lately, since Little Brother passed his 24 months old mark, he had suddenly become so chatty! Some of the things he said amazed me and some are amusing!

So I decided to start jotting down the things Little Brother said so that I can reminiscence when I am old and my children are all grown up.

Today, Little Brother suddenly told me "Daddy go work"

So I asked him if he knows where's Gong Gong? "Gong Gong sleep" (cos we just left my dad's house after we had our packed lunch there, and my dad will usually nap in the day as he is driving the taxi at night!)

Then where is Popo? "Popo work"

What about 干妈? "Gan Ma work"

Woah! How did he know all theses??

If you enjoy reading this post, please like me on my Facebook Page as it's where i connect with my readers. I will be very delighted if you can also add me on my newly set up social media accounts - Instagram, Tw…

Hide and Seek

My children love to request for me to play hide and seek with them at home! Whenever we play this game, it will be at least ten rounds of us alternating to find each other, after counting to 15!
There were a few occasions when I hide in new spots, and i find it amusing that they would only look in the usual areas where we will usually hide. When they can't find me after a short while, they will start shouting for me and during this time I will actually be giggling non stop within myself. Shortly later, Big Boy will cry and his Little Brother will follow.. Of cos that's when i give myself in!

I asked them how come they didn't continue finding me, Big Brother told me that it was because he thought I left the house! They were so scared and worried! ROFL!!
The young ones are just so cute and naive ya?!

I find them so innocent to keep hiding at the same few places and some more they can giggle non stop while hiding!! Sometimes I actually pretended I can't find them so tha…

Book Review: JJ's Science Adventure - Magnets

Allow me to pant! For I just finished reading the whole of the above mentioned book at one shot to Big Brother! The comic book is about Magnets and it's so interesting that Big Brother wouldn't allow me to stop reading! And I finished the whole book with him at one go!

As you may be aware, I had withdraw Big Brother from his Kindergarten and have been homeschooling him since Feb this year. It is the best decision I ever made and we have total freedom to cover any topics we want as we homeschool. Big Brother's favorite subject is Science and I had since finished the topics on Body as well as Living & Non-Living Things. Today, I finally moved him onto Magnets, our lesson was conducted using the above mentioned book which we were gifted in October last year!

What is JJ's Science Adventure?

Breastfeeding And Acne

Right now, I have 5 huge and painful deep in the skin acne and also countless surface pimples on the face now.. As the acne healed, new painful one surfaces every other day... :(

This happened when I was pregnant with Big Brother and also during the time when I breastfed him for 18 months. My skin cleared up immediately when he self weaned from breastfeeding at 18 months old.

And three years ago, it started all over again when I was pregnant with Little Brother and has been plaguing me up to now... leaving endless scars and marks as well as eye sores reddish fierce acne on the face.

I am still breastfeeding Little Brother now and as long as I am breastfeeding, my face will just simply continues it's 痘痘 party. Even when I asked the doctor if he can do something to my acne, when he heard I am still breastfeeding, he said "没办法咯,做妈妈就是这样伟大的". Hormones...

I didn't breastfeed because I want to be 伟大, I breastfeed out of love. The joy I got from breastfeeding my babies is gr…

A Feeling That Only Mommy Knows

There are some feelings that only a mother will go through and understand perfectly...

I remembered the day I delivered my first born and officially become a mother... I was bursting with an indescribable type of happiness that I have never ever felt before. It's like my whole body is tingling from the experiences of miracles! From the first time I met my son who had spent the last 38 weeks growing in my womb, the first time he grasped my finger with his tiny hand, his first latch on, his first smile, his first yawn to many of his firsts...
