A Night of Magic at Raffles + GIveaway

[Media Invite]

On Saturday night that had just passed, our little family of four had a really enjoyable and amazing time at the Raffles Hotel! The four-time Merlin Award Winner, Joe Labero, marks his return to Singapore for “A Night of Magic at Raffles” with a brand new fiery show from 16 Jan to 22 Feb 2015!

Joe Labero is back in town after the spectacular success of "Incanto" and last year's "A Night of Magic at Raffles"

As I started writing this post event review, I am wondering how I can share our experience with you in words because throughout the show, we were either making sounds like "Wow!!",  "Wooooooooooh!", "Oh My God!!!", "Arrrrrr...", or our mouth were either wide opened or covered with a hand in suspense and the rest of time, we were kept in constant laughters by the very charming yet witty Joe Labero himself!

The brand new fiery show in 2015 is assisted by the hottest
guest performers and fire artistes – Burnt Out Punks.

Prior to the event, I was invited to bring both my boys, but little did I know that the minimum age for entry is five years old and we had brought along our Little Brother with us! I was nicely reminded by staffs to bring the child out if he is crying. And thankfully! Labero's magic worked on our Little Brother too! The 1+ year old boy's eyes were also glued to Labero throughout the show! He was watching attentively most of the time and some sweets did the trick during the street magic segments which he don't really understand what's going on. Occasionally, he got really excited and kept on pointing to the screen or the stage and called out "Mama! Mama! Mama! MAMA" No, i wasn't invited onto the stage, it's my boy of pointing and showing me something he is very excited about. And throughout the show, my elder boy, Kyle also kept turning to me and show me his both thumbs up! It's too good. We were all very entertained!

It's actually the first time our family ever watched magic show live. We had always see it on the television. And my impression is that magic is a Television trick. You film, you pause and then with editing, it became the magic, no?! So my expectation of a live magic show would have a lot of pauses and breaks to move the props and tools in and out but NO! Joe Labero's two hours of show was packed full of magic tricks and performances! In fact, the movement of equipments were so seamless, I didn't really noticed it!  Throughout the show, we were captivated, in awed, through the fast paced magic by magic performances with almost no pauses and if there are any, it's interesting and humorous interactions between Labero and the audiences. I think he did at least 50 illusions or maybe double that! Intervening Labero's illusions were also the spectacular performances by the Burnt Out Punks who did a fascinating fire dance performance and an acrobatic body contortion segment.

I do not want to reveal too much, but just to let you know our hearts were racing and palms sweating when Joe Labero sawed the man in half with a Chain Saw! Kyle actually requested us to help cover his ears while he covered his eyes with holes in his fingers! We know it's an illusion, but.... we totally can't tell how it can be possible at all! And how is it possible that the woman can go into a box which can be folded so small that can't even fit an upper torso of any normal human, with long swords poked in, and reappear again when the box is folded back to its usual side?? I have too many favorites... the levitation, the joining of rings from three random audiences... you have to watch it for yourself!

I seriously think the tickets prices are very worth for the unforgettable experience!

An introductory video for a glimpse of the show

The queue for taking pictures with Labero was too long and so I took one with his poster!
