Learning Through Play Date #4

Image
Since we started the Learning Through Play dates, both Mommy Cloudy and I took turns to plan each week's play date and Playdate #4 is planned by Cloudy!

Can i say, it's a really fantastic play date where both toddlers were glued and very engaged throughout?! I had thought initially that the little ones will not be keen in food tasting but to our surprises, they actually look forward and is anticipating the disclosure of the next food item!
Theme: Senses     Topics: Tastes, Cutting with Bread Knife, Self Feeding and Recap on Sounds
Audience: 2 eighteen months old toddlers, Rainy and Little Brother Kyne Our Informal Lesson Plan flowed as followed:

1. Good Morning Song
2. Music & Exercise Time
3. Introduction to Sour Mommy Cloudy prepared three types of sour food for the little ones to explore and taste. The little ones were very curious to hold the lime and lemon. And they were very excited to hold the bread knife to attempt to cut the fruits themselves! We could only demonstrate …

Kyle's Chinese Learning Journey at KidStartNow

Image
Since the english speaking Big Brother joined the holiday chinese camp ran by KidStartNow last year, he had suddenly developed an interest in Chinese and even requested to go back to KidStartNow to attend their term classes!
In a blink of an eye, Kyle will be completing his 4th term with KidStartNow! Wow! I remember I started bringing Big Brother to their classes with his seven months old little brother and now, while Big Brother is attending his chinese class, i am outside chasing the little active brother who is running and climbing all over the place! How time flies!
Did I tell you that somewhere in August this year, KidStartNow has setup a mini library for Students! Students can now borrow a book home to read and return the following week! They have some books translated from popular english titles like "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and series from "Spot the Dog" too. I appreciate this initiative to help us expose the children to more mandarin at …

Positive Discipline with Julia Gabriel

Image
Some time ago, i was invited to attend a "Positive Discipline" workshop by Ms Julia Gabriel, Founder and Creative Director of Julia Gabriel Education herself. I must say they are really pro family and knows a parent's needs best. I was able to bring Big Brother Kyle along, who was kept engaged by the teachers at Julia Gabriel Education with storytelling and craft activities while I attended the talk, right within the same room!

We are not obliged to blog, but I would like to jot down what I have learnt, as well as sharing is loving. :) Hopefully you can gain something from this too.

The Positive Discipline Workshop aims to help a parent to:

The Things He Said

There was one day over the weekends, when the Big Brother was being very demanding and insisting for schedule to flow his way.

After arguing with him for a very long time, I was so frustrated and

Me: You are too much you know!

K: No! I am not too much, I am little.

Me: ... ... ...

K: I cannot be too much! What's too much?

And hubby bursted out laughing.

Learning Through Play Date #3

Image
We had a week's break from the last play date as both babies took turns to catch the flu bug so we thought better to postpone the play date. So last week we finally met again at my house. When Baby Rainy arrived, I was happy to note that she warmed up quickly and we (me and baby Kyne) were not strangers to her anymore!

For below two years old, it's not easy to really know what will engage them, so we were still trying. This play date was prepared by me and i continued with what I feel interests them. ;p

Theme: Senses     Topics: See, Hear, Touch
Audience: 2 seventeen months old toddlers, Rainy and Little Brother Kyne

Our Informal Lesson Plan flowed as followed:

1. Good Morning Song
2. Music & Exercise Time

Because Little Brother likes the pop songs like his older brother, I have asked Mommy Cloudy what music does Baby Rainy likes and thus i played the songs "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Wheels on Bus" and a Teochew song "自己人“ that was used during the Singapore Te…
