Before i was a Mom

A very nice poem that i came across when i just had KD and kept till now. To share with fellow mommies and MTBs.

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a…

Baby is that you?

I bought a new toy from Qoo10 on 15 Oct and it arrived yesterday!

Yes! It's a fetal doppler! I had much fun looking for the BB in my tummy and listening to its heart beat!

KD laughed and said it sounds so funny!

Since the beginning of this 2nd pregnancy, KD had been extremely sticky and whining. In fact we find it very amazing that he knows about a new sibling before we do! There are many nights where he will wake screaming for mommy. >.<"" i am not sure how, but i will slowly let him know the benefits of having a sibling. :) Gambateh!

Places that has Nursing Rooms available

Hihi, share this note that i kept when i had my #1, last updated in Apr 2010.
There are definitely more nursing rooms now and i hope more mommies will consider breastfeeding! :)

Tips on looking for the right Infant Care for your precious baby

After KD was born, I actually extended a 2 months unpaid leave so that i can look after KD for a longer period to let him take on most of the vaccinations as well as i really wanted to do the weaning for him myself.. He was then placed in the infant care service when he was 23 weeks old.

This tips writeup is solely based on my own personal experience and please remember that every parents differs.

The reasons why i placed KD in an Infant Care is because I want to:

1) Lessen conflicts with baby's grandparents

2) Allow grandparents to continue working and earn an income

3) Go to work and go home together with baby (Infant care is opposite my office)

4) Continue to breast feed him (i can walk over in the afternoon to breastfeed him directly)

5) Expose him to an environment where there are english and chinese teachers whom took turns looking after the baby, and other than basic care, they also do activities with my baby such as singing, flashcards, finger play etc.
